Racin and Night Ridin

Did the weekly Short Track again last night...
Haven't missed one this year yet, which is surprising. I have a pretty good lead on the overall series, so that is kinda cool. Last night felt really good, took 4th, which isn't my best, but with the competition that was out last night, I felt like it was my best one so far.

After the race, I watched the rest of the other races, had a High Life, and went for a night ride with some friends from the shop. It was pretty dang fun. Their was tons of frogs out there. Weird!
I may or may not have run over one, I am not sure.

Viva la bikes!

Headed off to New Mex tomorrow to hang with the fam. Should be fun. My only demand for my sister on the weekend was to get me somewhere with a TV Saturday morning so I could watch the fireworks in the Tour de France that day, I can guarantee that that stage will not disappoint.

That thing is huge...

And there's three of 'em.
Went up and did some fine spectatin and what not at the National Mountain Bike Championships today. I am pretty sure that pro downhillers are crazy. This was the second jump in a series of three. The third one was bigger. Good times.

How You Doin?

So far, this is my favorite photo (or series) of this years Tour de France.
It is about 400 meters from the finish in Stage 8.
Well played sir. Well played.

LATE ADDITION:
This photo from today's stage is up there in my favorites too.

It's A Long Way To The Top... If You Wanna Rock And Roll (or) Tour de Neil's Pants (or) The Air Up There

Another great weekend, based around... guess... guess... MY BIKES. If you don't like bike posts, you can stop reading now (Mandy).

I got out on the knobby tires on Saturday, with the whole goal of getting myself all sorts of lost and finding secret stashes of trails. Mission accomplished! We've had an incredibly moist year so far here, and that has made the wildflowers go nuts.
I found me a good lunch spot. The view was pretty f-in sweet.

What was even sweeter was my lunch. A hugetastic chocolate chip cookie.
I rode Root Canal, Hobbit, School Bus, Super Circle/Toilet Bowl, a bunch of new to me trails (I am sure they are totally top secret), wound up on the local ski areas nordic trails: Setting Sun, Lone Star, and Rising Sun, back on some secret trails, and then back. 4 hours and change in total.

I found the infamous school bus, of the School Bus Trail fame.
On Sunday, I hopped on the skinny tires to do something I've wanted to for a while. The shop was headed on a group ride so I jumped in the van and joined em. We rode up the highest paved road in North 'Merica, to the top of Mt. Evans, sittin purty at over 14K feet. Here is what Mt. Evans looks like:
Well, through my gps that is. It is purtier in real life.

Here is my photo of a mountain goat.
Yeah, I took that.
If you look carefully right behind its ass, you can see the road we came up on.

That is all for now.

I won a pair of socks.
I celebrated with a beer.

Thanks for The Sis and Jim for coming up to the race!
